Moi-même (mwa-MEM) means “myself” in French. Our name is evocative of the personal

Our clothing embodies the urbane, cosmopolitan character of New York City – the company’s headquarters – combining sophisticated, contemporary design with careful tailoring and a perfect made-to-measure fit. Moi-Même was founded by Dawn Verbrigghe, a businesswoman who needed a few well-fitted suits to wear while meeting with clients, but was simply too tall to fit into the pre-hemmed pants found at department and specialty stores. “I started asking friends and colleagues where to find a great-fitting suit. Invariably, they told me the same thing, ‘I don’t know, but when you find out, come back and tell me!’” Drawing upon her design and management experience, Dawn set out to find a way to offer a stylish, great-fitting suit at a reasonable price. Following nearly two years of research and product development, she launched the company's first collection in October 2007 and quickly expanded the product line to include dress shirts and other career apparel. Dawn is a part-time faculty member in the Design and Management program at Parsons School of Design. A graduate of the University of Michigan School of Art + Design and Columbia Business School, she now lives in Manhattan with her spirited tuxedo cat, Jackson. |
